Customs and Practices

Team Fixtures 

Fixtures are arranged for members with other County Golf Captains, the Dorset ex Lady Captains, the County Juniors team and the Wessex  Regional Club Secretaries.  These are arranged by the Hon Secretary, and, at the beginning of each year, members are circulated a Fixture List and Match Request Form to nominate which fixtures they wish to play, indicating priority. The Hon Secretary uses these indications with the Captain to select the teams.  Sanctions will be applied as appropriate if members fail to inform the Captain in a timely manner (i.e two weeks prior to fixture) if they are unable to play or be a reserve. 

Annual Events  

In addition to the team fixtures a number of events are organised including the Spring Meeting and Presidents Day, the Four Counties match, the Colin Chataway Trophy for  Juniors, Dorset Ex Lady Captains Mixed Greensomes and the Autumn Meeting and Captains Day. All members are invited to participate in these events though as sometimes the numbers are limited early applicants are given priority. 

Clothing

The wearing of Dorset Captains clothing is mandatory for the team fixtures and strongly encouraged for all events.
The Hon Clothing Organiser is able to supply items of clothing at reasonably short notice with delivery at a fixture or event. Items are badged and available in the agreed colours - yellow shirts and green v-neck sweaters and slipovers. Blazer Badges are also available. A clothing order is circulated with the Fixture List each year.

Communication

Electronic communication with members is now established via a mailbox and a website has been published to include information on all Fixtures and Events, team list and results etc. It also links with all Dorset Golf Clubs.
